BIGBANG Alive Tour London - Impressions

I had the chance to go to BIGBANG ALIVE GALAXY TOUR concert in London on the 15th of December and I would like to share my impressions from the concert with you!

Keep in mind that these are my own impression from the show, and it might differ from other people’s experience from the same day . I am sure, however, that the general impression that this concert left in all who went to see it, was highly positive.

I am sure many kpop or BIGBANG fans, especially in Europe, might feel kind of “lonely” in their love for artists, that most of their friends never hurt of . But if you were in London on the 14th or 15th , as a VIP , you can feel all but lonely , because you can see and meet so many people , who just like you ,  share the same affection towards BIGBANG.

From almost every corner of UK and almost every country in Europe, fans came to London to see BIGBANG !

I felt a little shy at first but everyone was so nice and enthusiastic, that it was so easy to talk to them! VIP fandom – you are great people indeed! ( or maybe I am just lucky to have met some very cool people … ) .

The people who I saw on the concert were not only teenage girls ( as the cliché might suggest )  – there were fanboys , many people in their 20s and even parents as well  …. All kind of people! Some were dressed up , others not . One could see the influence of BIGBANG  in the pink or blue coloured hair of some people , in the fashion style of other or simple in the general enthusiasm of all !

It was cold and we waited a lot but it was so worthy !

I have been to many concerts and I can assure you , this one will remain in my top list of best concert I have ever been to !  Three equally important things are needed to get an amazing experience on a concert : 1. good music 2.  singer(s) who knows how to entertain  3.enthusiastic audience . At BIGBANG concert we had all 3 things!

As much as we were impressed by BIGBANG , I think they remained impressed by us as well  ! When the audience sang Haru Haru , it was a very special moment !

I guess, you need to know more about BIGBANG to understand the additional meaning this concert has to both us ,  the VIPs and them , BIGBANG. Nothing in out “relationship” went the usual well . We found BIGBANG , they were not imposed on us by some trend or advertising . They did not know we exist for a long time …. Now they truly discovered us . At the beginning of this year no one knew if BIGBANG will be able to return to the music scene , but now , at the end of the year , they were having a very successful live show miles and miles away from their home country !
I am sure they remember MTV EMA 2011 and we remember it too . Therefore I am sure they were as curious to know us and we were to know them.

I was so very lucky to be on the front row ! First in line ! I grabbed the fence with a triumph and  I didn’t care that I had hit my leg in the attempt ! Everyone around me was very excited ! I think that even if someone came to the concert just to accompany a friend , had a good time ! The enthusiasm was contagious !
I really had great time! We all sang and waved and screamed ! ( even though sometimes I wished the girl next to me hadn’t known the lyrics of all BIGBANG songs cause she was often shouting them in my ear …. But nevermind ! )
I got so much energy from this concert I was really hyper after it !

BIGBANG are really great on stage! Their dancers as well , the effects and the stage décor were also on the top level ! Good quality show ;) !  and the yellow lights ! They have their effect ! : )

The members of BIGBANG got more and more contaminated by the craziness of the crowd and did not spare themselves !  They spoke in English to us but at the end TOP spoke in Korean to us ( there were massive screams after every word he said ) . I think he got emotional and really wanted to tell us something so he just said it in Korean !
Seungri was trying to imitate British accent , hahah ! I mean , he  is Seungri after all – he wanted to talk a lot ! There were many jokes between the members and they also were teaching us Fantastic Baby dance ! ;)

Since I was so close to the stage , every BIGBANG member pass there at certain point , so I managed to see them all from like 1-2 meters distance . Here are some random impressions of them .

TOP  - he didn’t come much to my side of the stage , but just  few times . Every time he passed by us , he looked like a prince  walking down a red carpet – he looked important , tall and elegant . At the beginning he was the most calm one from the group but later he showed us his “choom” side ! The others even made him dance at the middle of the stage , towards the end . He really needs only to stay still to make all people go crazy and he knows it!
I can confirm that he is very charming and handsome . He was looking at the audience with some curiosity … well , they all did but his is less obvious maybe .
Btw , I think he got wrong one of the dance moves  and almost bumped into Daesung but they just smiled at each other and it was such a cute moment .

Daesung  -  he was the one who stayed around my part of the stage the most . He would try to go everywhere and smile to everyone ! I found him really cute person ! He was signing and waving and smiling at us! His smile does make you forget all your worries! Daesung is really energetic and radiant person!

Taeyang – he came to us few times and every time he just danced around! Whether he is singing or dancing or talking on tearing his shirt off – he gives it all to the audience. He is short indeed, but that doesn’t make him less cool .
Actually they all seemed kind of “smaller” than I thought but I think it is because they were so “big” in my mind. Also the energy and awesomeness that comes out of them , makes them really seem enormous .

Seungri  - he is such a character ! At one point he came to us and just stood  at the edge of the stage with some serious expression on his face to take a look at us ( and we at him ) and he seemed as some superhero on a top of a tall building ! He is a handsome guy , I can tell you that . He wanted to talk more , I am sure ! He always tried to encourage the crowd to sing and dance . He is such a sweetheart ! And it is so funny when even his members ( especially GD ) were genuinely laughing at his attempts to explain why he loves UK so much .

G Dragon – When GD is performing a song , he transforms from a tiny Korean boy into a music star . But when he is just smiling at something, when he thinks people are not looking , he is just Ji-Yong ,  the guy with the cute smile .
At the beginning he was just passing next to us , without turning his head to see us , but everyone was screaming his name and I think he heard us cause he smiled to himself . Then later he just came to us and sang for us and I realized that I had stopped waving or moving because I was looking at him and listening.
Later , towards the end , he jumped down from the stage in the empty space in front of us and just passed on with a smile on his face , looking at us . There is something special about G Dragon and you can see it in his eyes but you cannot say what it is exactly…

So , yeah , the concert was great ! Let me define great for you – you feel the adrenaline of having someone who you have anticipated to meet just in a few meters from you ,  you hear the load music echoing all around you , the lights that make you almost dizzy ,  all those people around you singing and shouting and jumping . There is an energy flow that gets into your bones and you feel free to sing and jump and scream as well . You can let go of everything and just enjoy the moment.

BIGBANG are really good entertainers, their music is fun, their performance engaging. More than 3 years ago when I first knew about them , they stood out among the other kpop artist and I now know why , more than ever .
They were at their best ,when they  abandoned choreography and just run and jumped around the stage ! They were at their best when sitting to sing Haru Haru . They are simple at their best when they perform live!

I know that there is now an empty space that many VIPs feel in themselves . After waiting for so long , it past so quickly!  After being so close to BIGBANG , they are now again miles away . I kind of felt it as well this morning ... But don’t feel too sad ! The music stays with us , also the good memories !

I don’t know about you – but except having a great time at the concert , I feel very motivated and energetic after it. I want to be able to put the same among of energy that BIGBANG give at their concert in everything I do ! This represent one of the biggest gifts music gives me : an inspiration ! For that I want to thank all those wonderful musician out their and amongst them BIGBANG as well !

I think UK ( and  Europe in general ) left a big impression on BIGBANG ! I guess so did the other countries they visited . Therefore I hope they will return for more concerts !

I wish to all of you , who haven’t seen them , to get the chance to do so . It is so much fun ! Because they  are BIG and they come with a BANG ! The Fantastic BIGBANG !

PS I forgot to mention that their live band was so cool as well ! Having music playing live makes everything even more epic ! A real Live concert !!!

Travelling to London Tips - Part 5 ( Sightseeing )

About Sightseeing in London I can write you a whole book .... but I will keep it very simple and short . There are many tourist pages where you can check more about the London landmarks .

You can do many things in London - almost anything that comes to your mind! Go to museums ; watch musicals or theater plays ; go shopping ; go on walks in the parks ; go to bars , pubs , clubs ; visit Madam Tussauds to have a photo with Iron Man or the Royal Family ;  and even  go on a Harry Potter trip ! More time and money you have, better it is , but even with little time or little money you can have fun !

My advice is – just choose an area and walk around instead of rushing from one landmark to another  by the metro. Try to enjoy the city !

For example - you can start at the Big Ben ! Yes , go see it !!! It is beautiful . There is a Metro Station near by and it is a good starting or ending point for any London tourist walk. From there you can walk to the London eye (there is always a huge queue there… at least every time I went )  . To get on the London Eye and see the city from above costs around 18 pounds . But don’t do it if it too cloudy and gloomy cause you won’t see too far and its not worthy . From there – if you like walking , you can walk down the river as far as Tower Bridge ! There you can visit also the Tower of London .  It is a relative long walk but it is nice in sunny days .

Otherwise you can walk from Big Ben to Westminster abbey and after that even to the Buckingham Palace which is really not all that big and special as I though but it is a beautiful building. I presume it is much more magnificent from the inside but I never entered. I went instead to Green park . I can assure you that if you visit it  you will meet a lot of curious and hungry squirrels. If you have any nuts to give them they won’t hesitate to approach you.

Another nice area to go is from the Big Ben towards Trafalgar Square and all the area around it … wait ! my head is going to explode - there are so many possibilities!!! Covert Garden , Soho …….. Just think about what you want to see and experience. After that go this web page and find the area that will combine most of your interests and go visit it ! - http://www.visitlondon.com/

If it is raining and if is too cold for going around I suggest you to go to visit some of the London Museums . They are not at all boring ! Especially the science museum ! And they are all for free !

Don’t forget as well that London is full of modern buildings ! Go to the City if you want to experience its special atmosphere.

If there is something that interest you more to see or to known about  - ask me ! I love London so I will be happy to talk about it  ! ^^

PS If you are about to buy a city map pay attention for it be a little bit more detail

this kind of tourist maps are sure cute but ... they are really general and not at all usefull if you want to find some of this building in reality .

at least have something like this as well ( where the actual name of the street are written an things are in their right propotion )

Travelling to London Tips - Part 4 ( Weather )

There is not much to say about London's weather that you don't already know - London in December is cold and rainy . But it is not that bad ! The temperature might vary between 4 to 8 degrees . But since climate is going crazy in the past few years ( moral ! - don't waste energy , have sustainable life style and .... at least go around by bike ! ) it might be colder or warmer .... who knows .
There are few things you need to keep in mind

1- If it sunny in the morning it doesn't mean it won't rain in the evening : the weather changes swiftly . Always have something like umbrella ! :)

2 - Umbrella is sometimes uncomfortable and not very useful if there is wind . So take one raincoat as GD did .

3. You need 3 important things

  -  Bring a hat ! It is the only way to protect yourself from cold  wind . It is very easy to get a cold if your head freezes . Also there won't be much left of your hairdo if there is wind anyway . Protect your head !
 - Have a good shoes ! Make sure they are waterproofed !
And forget about high heels if you want to survive the concert . Buy shoes with high platforms if you want but spare yourself the pain of spending hours standing or jumping in high heels .

- Have a good coat that protects from rain ! ( one of those that doen't get easily wet ! )  !

I will write additional post with tips about the concert tomorrow late at night ... no wait is Halloween tomorrow ... ok . maybe the day after tomorrow :)  !

Travelling to London Tips - Part 2 ( Accomodations )

Accomodations in London

There are plenty of web pages for finding hotels ( hostels ) in London .
Let me name just a few

Prices can greatly vary from something like 10 pounds for a bed in a hostel room to …. very big numbers  for single rooms in a hotel.

If you want to have a single room in a hostel or hotel in kind of descent area it might cost you around 30 - 40 pounds a night ( minimum ) . You might get lucky to find something cheaper but this is the average price. It is more possible that you find rooms for 50-60 pounds .

If you don’t mind sharing room in a hostel - then it will cost much less . Is up to you ! Some hostels also offer single or double rooms . If you are travelling with a friend this might be a good option . If you travel in a group of 4 people is even better because you can book a 4 bed room in a hostel and it will be much cheaper then a hotel .

What you need to check when booking a room: ( beside prices )

1. Location

Where the best place to choose is, depends on how you want to spend your time in London. If you want to stay for 2-3 days and go around the “tourist” part of the city , then you should find hotel in zone 1 or 2 . If you are in London  only for 1-2 days maybe it is better to chose something close to the Wembley Arena ( or at least zone 4 ) ( this is for people coming to the BigBang concert )
Make sure your hotel is close to bus or tube station. Even if you are further away from the center, as long as you are close to the tube station you can easily move around.

Consider one more thing – the time of your flight. If your flight is early in the morning or late at night, it might be more convenient to find accommodation closer to some of airport transfer couch ( bus )  stops so that you won’t have to take taxi in the middle of the night. ( but try not wander alone at night around train station in other occasions ) .

2. Facilities

First think about what you actually need for your stay ( that also might depend on its length ) and check well what is included in the price and for what you need to pay extra .

Check the basic things – do the place gives you bath towers or not , is there internet connection and so on . Pay attention also if the place has a curfew !

Some hostels offer also breakfast or even laundry service . Make sure you actually need those services when choosing .

More tips for choosing between hostels :

- check if they have ( free) baggage deposit
-  check if the WC is in or outside the room - the same goes for the showers
- check if it is mixed room or only for girls(boys)
- the number of beds in one room
- bring small soup and shampoo because you can never be sure if there are going to be there or not ... ( small one and remember the plastic bag for the hand luggage ! )

Also if you are going to a hostel always bring a padlock with you ! ( just in case )

3. Ratings & Comments

Almost all pages offer a rating for the hotels and the hostels they show you. Check those opinions for having more reference . People oppinions might be different but you will get a general idea .

4 Other things

Most pages will ask you to pay a small deposit for booking – something like 10% . Don’t forget to print the receipt! Also make sure you have the hostel telephone number and address with you. As I said before – most hostels provide you also information about how to reach them , so print those directions as well and bring them with you .

If there are any question , don’t hesitate to ask me !

Travelling to London Tips – Part 1 (flights and transportation to the city )

There are many airports around London area. I am going to write you about those 4 of them that is most probable for you to use.

But first of all let’s start with the airlines companies. ( This might be very trivial and well known information for some but nevertheless, I will share it. )

Here are some of the low cost flying companies:

1. Ryan Air - http://www.ryanair.com/
2 .EasyJet  - http://www.easyjet.com/
3 . WizzAir  -  http://wizzair.com/

You can consult this web page for more low cost companies that fly to London from your country http://www.low-cost-airline-guide.com/

Sooner you book your ticket , the better!

Attention!

Those low-cost companies are sometimes very strict. Try to follow their rules.

Remember that :

- you probably need to make check in online ! Don’t forget to print your boarding card!!! Make sure you have a valid document with you when travelling!

– only ONE piece of hang baggage! (make sure that any small bag you have can actually fit into your bigger one ).

- Make sure ALL your liquid things are in a plastic bag and easy to take out of the bag. Don’t get any big bottles of shampoo or perfume with you – they will make you throw them away. Nobody will care how expensive they might be .Liquids must be in separate containers and no single item may contain more than 100 milliliters of liquid.

what qualifies as ‘liquid’?Any items that contain liquid substances, such as: water and other (alcoholic) drinks, syrup and soup ; perfume gels, creams, lotions,  toothpaste, (roll-on) deodorant, lip gloss, shaving foam, liquid make-up and mascara.

Read more about what is allowed and what not here - http://www.transavia.com/hv/en-EU/service/rules-hand-luggage

- Try not to have too many jewelry or metal things on you, because you have to pass the metal detector (just put all your cool metal bracelets and rings  in your bag during the travel . In that way you won't risk to lose them while taking them off and on at the security check ) .
Very often winter shoes such as boots have metal elements in them so probably you will have to take them off during the metal detector check. ( so make sure your socks are in a good state to show them in public – no holes , I mean ;) )

- Don’t buy or bring a lot of water before boarding – you need to throw it away anyway . Buy it AFTER the security check .

- Be always careful and don’t leave your bag out of your sight .

Now about the airports transfer:

There are usually two ways to get to London from the airport :  by train or by bus ( coach bus )  In general trains are faster but also more expensive than buses. It also depends on the type of train that you are about to choose. Usually all hotels provide information about how to reach them – so make sure you have check that well so you know on which stop to get off .

(Don’t be too hasty to exchange a lot of money at your arrival. Remember that you can pay directly with your credit card in many places. Just make sure you are bringing your international credit card with you. )

Before giving you the links for each airport I suggest you to take a look at National Express web page  http://www.nationalexpress.com/ It is a big company that provides shuttle buses for many airports in UK. It is quite easy and not very expensive way to get to London . Choose your airport from the "Aiports" meny and find out about prices and travelling schedule. If you need any help , ask me in the comments .

1 – London Luton Airport (  http://www.london-luton.co.uk/  )
